My radiation treatment has started. I will drive in and out to Chermside myself. The time spent in the car is an opportunity to sing and worship my King. Yesterday was such a positive experience and the staff at the clinic are fantastic. The music playing whilst the radiation is taking place is gentle and being instrumental allows me to sing and pray during the session. When they leave me on the table with the machine buzzing I ask Him to radiate me with His love as He heals my body and restores my spirit. Radiation is like a light that zaps the bad cells, killing them – burning them. This is like the Light of Jesus. When He looks into your life and you allow Him, He zaps and removes the bad cells. Remember the referral to my spiritual cancer? Well this is the healing – spiritual radiation.
You can’t see detail in the dark, our eyes need light to help us gain a perspective and vision. When light shines on aspects of our life we can see what is really there. We are told in the Bible that all will be brought into the light and that what was hidden in the darkness will be revealed. In Ephesians 4:17, Paul tells us to stop living an ungodly life. ‘Un’ is a prefix for not – so Paul is encouraging us to stop living without God in our life. The less God in your life, the more flesh and the more self.
Verse 22 speaks of throwing off a nature and way of life, this is a way of laying down yourself. When Jesus told us to pick up our cross He was not referring to the troubles and hardships that you face during the day or life. He wants us to follow Him, follow His example. Jesus carried His cross knowing full well that He was about to lay His life down, He was giving His all out of love for the Father, in obedience to the Will of Abba Father. What an example! Out of this obedience and love flows forgiveness, redemption, restoration and healing. When we are asked to pick up our cross it is to lay down your desires, your self-importance and will. To follow Yeshua and walk in the light. We are to rid ourselves of worthless deeds such as gossip, greed, idol chatter, greed and lying (to ourselves and others). If we empty our lives of self we leave room for the Set-Apart Spirit of Truth and Jesus. More of You Lord and less of me.
Paul goes on to give us some really good advice about living in the light.
Ephesians 5:16 – Make the most of every opportunity.
Ephesians 5:17 – Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Ephesians 5:18(b) – Instead let the Set-Apart Spirit of Truth fill and control you.
